This flashlight is well-built and feels like a solid, high quality piece of equipment in the hand—everything I’ve come to expect from Fenix. It’s actually lighter and more ergonomic than I thought it would be, and I have relatively small hands. The thing is, though, I wasn’t blown away by the 9,000 lumen maximum output, and that’s actually a compliment to Fenix. It’s exactly like getting the newest iPhone—the previous generation was already so good that the latest version, while nice, isn’t going to feel like a great leap forward. To say the same about this flashlight means that Fenix has reached Apple’s level of quality, and that is a compliment indeed. The user interface is excellent (and intuitive). The only knock that comes to mind is how quickly the battery drains when on full output, but that is obviously a trade-off, and I’m glad they decided to go with the smaller, lighter form factor. All in all, I consider this money well spent. The flashlight itself was great, when it worked. It has one huge defect, however: It won’t recharge! When the charger is plugged in, it says “Charging”, and shows a charging animation — but after even 24 hours of this, it’s still at 1%! This doesn’t seem to be that rare either, looking at other reviews of Fenix’s integrated-battery models (like the UC52). I’ve tried the charger and cable that came with it, as well as other chargers and cables I know work well... so the problem lies within the TK72R itself.I’ll be returning this, since even if it was repaired or replaced, my confidence in the reliability is now very low: If they can’t even design a charging system reliably, how can I trust any other aspect of the electronics? How do I know if won’t just stop working or stop taking a charge a few months after the warranty expires? For a flashlight without an external charger or easily purchased replacement batteries, this is an instant dealbreaker. This unreliability makes it less appealing as a hiking or camping flashlight, especially. Note to Fenix: Perhaps simpler is better, if you can’t make the electronics reliable 100% of the time. This is a flashlight, not a space ship: There shouldn’t be a whole lot to go wrong, so when something as fundamental as charging doesn’t work, I worry about the reliability of every other function.I’d love to re-assess if they work out the bugs some day, but for a $330 flashlight, I expected more: A flashlight in this price range needs to last a lifetime, never spontaneously fail to function (whether we’re talking about turning it on, or charging it), and overall just be reliable.A $330 flashlight should work, every single time.Excellent flashlight, and great features. Plenty of light power in a compact package. However the included belt holster could be better. Yes, it holds the flashlight, but does so in a head-up, as opposed to a better (my opinion), more protective head down position. It's for that reason I gave the 4 star rating, I'd give a 4.5 rating, but this site does not permit that. The holster is my only complaint about this product. This is a multi functional light that will go from dim light reading a map mode to lighting up the runway for 777 to land.battery last for quite some time on the brightest setting. It will get warm on the brightest setting but man it is bright. It's pricey but if you need the functionality this is your light. I highly recommend this to all who want an excellent handy flashlight for exploring this is the one.I'm a huge Fenix flashlight fan...I have 2 Fenix TK-75 flashlights and they are great...This little light feels great when your holding it. Here's why I don't like it.....First, let me tell you why I seek out the best, most brightest flashlights on earth....I work about 90 hours a week inspecting homes for the last 23 years....I feel that Fenix released this without getting the kinks out and without enough testing....It took me 48 hours to decide I'm not keeping it....when you turn it on and go to the 9000 lumen setting, the flashlight heats up to where you can't even hold it....You can watch the battery life percentage decrease as fast as you can count to 100...So, while I'm in someones attic, doing an inspection, the flashlight starts to dim on it's own....It dims on it's own to 2500 lumens, meanwhile it's so freaking hot, I'm using a thick towel to hold it so my hands don't get burned.....Not worth the $330 price tag....Don't get me wrong, Fenix is and always will be my go to place for flashlights, but this one needs some work:)Best flashlight ever. Like can we do adjusted from 100 lm to 9000 lm. There are two adjustment factors, short press 100 lm, one press 1000 lm. The flashlight will automatically reduce output as it heats up, but that takes quite a while for such a small unit. The throw on this thing is unbelievable.Flashlight gets extremely hot to hold at the brightest setting.I absolutely love my flashlight, the light is absolutely great and the operation is way easy!!! - if there was an anything I could suggest different, is the the price. Anything else and everything else is absolutely a dream come true!!! I love it, Thank you!!!
